This bowl was hand-crafted from a large 60 year old Red Elm (Ulmus rubra) that grew in front of the Yale University Art Gallery on Chapel Street. Arguably the best university art gallery in the world, YUAG opened over 180 years ago and is the oldest university art museum in the western hemisphere. This tree was removed shortly after the renovation of the Street Hall wing of the gallery in 2013. This bowl is 6 3/4” in diameter and 3 1/2” inches high. This is bowl #39 of the 41 bowls to be crafted from this tree.
